Get the DeClutter Bug

Leah Svanberg - Wednesday, January 04, 2012
How exciting to be in 2012..doesn't it have a great vibe about it??
Here's my word to begin the year "declutter". We might traditionally think of the home or office and I have certainly been working on those the last few days but something else that can often do with a big clean out is our makeup bag or drawer.

If you are a collector like me then you know there can be many treasures horded away.....Assess how old your mascara's and lipglosses are....they say 6 months is the limit but certainly if a mascara is 12 months they can be contaminated and unsafe to use.
To prolong their life if you aren't a regular makeup wearer use disposable wands. Regularly wipe your lipgloss wand with an antibac wipes...a makeup artist best friend is the instant dry brush cleaning sprays, just brilliant to keep things sterilised.

If you have been hanging onto those body lotions for 5 years or lipsticks you got in a gift with purchase that were NEVER your colour.....it is time to go!!!! You don't have to throw good things away, if they are fairly new but you just know deep down you won't use them then consider gifting to someone who will. My Mum is a great one for actually using the samples and soaps that find there way into every bathroom to clutter up and I think "I will take that on hols with me next time." but never do. So if you can relate...come on the declutter journey with me.
You will feel refreshed and have space to welcome the new!
Here's a couple of ideas - a really cheap drawer tidy is from IKEA for less than $5

Calling All Hens

Leah Svanberg - Thursday, February 03, 2011

If you are at a loss for ideas for your hens or bucks party I was struck by some ideas recently.

How fun would a cooking class be with your friends and family and get to enjoy the spoils of you evening with some nice wine... am I sounding like an old married woman?

Or better still send the boys for their bucks to teach him some tricks for your life together!!

One wedding party  I worked with had done just that at an Asian restaurant. Unfortunately I can't remember the name.
Here is a link for a fav restaurant of mine '00 Acre Bar at Hillstone St Lucia, I just discovered they run cooking classes and there is some info on the next one in this newsletter. By the way great wedding venue too.

Off the cooking theme now to something more glam, what about a style party???

The" in" thing now is to have a personal stylist who can help with your style and colours and combine that with makeup tips and learning different looks is another fun idea for your hens night.
www.renaissanceimagedesign.com.au is a great site to check out a fun and very stylish Rachel, a personal stylist in Brisbane, and of course I can help with the makeup lesson.

I would love to hear your experiences with hens or shower teas you thought were fun and of course tell us your not so great nights out.

Cheers for now Leah

Rain Beautiful Rain

Leah Svanberg - Thursday, December 02, 2010

Well, this weather is never a favourite with Brides and the rain today brings back memories of my own wedding as it is my 16th wedding anniversary tomorrow (3 Dec 94).  My lesson...always have wet weather contingency and a very large umbrella!!!

Most wedding days I have worked on the rain has magically cleared at the time of the ceremony, except for my own when it decided to bucket down just as we were all to leave for the ceremony. Instead of out door nature photos, we got romantic indoor with a vintage feel at Petrie Mansions....so it is good to be flexible.

Introducing the Brides and Beauty Blog

Leah Svanberg - Thursday, May 13, 2010

I would like to introduce you to my new Brides and beauty blog.

In the coming weeks I plan to feature brides as we do their weddings and then detail for you the fun and serious job of creating the most beautiful look 4 your hair and makeup. Having gotten married myself 15 years ago I often wonder how I found my suppliers and I guess referrals and bridal mags were it, the internet was certainly not what it is today.  A huge part the 70+ weddings we do a year are referrals from previous brides and because it is such an awesome way to find a business, I had the inspiration to share with you some of the stories from our real life brides and who they used for their big day.

So watch with this space for photos, titbits and advice from the girls who have gone before you and some of my very favourite people and things from beauty and wedding business.
